The Strokes New Haven Concert reviews
Another EPIC tour for U2
"The Strokes stadium shows are going to be EPIC. The Strokes rocked its set list for the Joshua Tree 30th anniversary tour at the Rose Bowl stop, using one of the biggest HD screens created, probably about the size of the one in the Cowboy鈥檚 stadium. The show started a wee late for some of us, though the fantastical has been lessened to mere amazing. Hit after hit to start, with the opening strains of Sunday, Bloody Sunday, we didn鈥檛 care. Then moving from the B stage to the huge A stage against the mega-screen, the opening of Where the Streets Have No Name started and the mega-screen showed videos and stills that embellished it, and the music of the entire Joshua Tree album, to stunning effect. Where the Streets is a musical marvel, one of the great songs for concerts ever. A warning鈥ome nights are starting later for no apparent reason, and the setlist is shortened. After the thrilling playing of Joshua Tree, the band came back for an encore and did one of the other great concert songs ever, by them or anyone, Bad. They continued with Beautiful Day, Elevation, Ultraviolet, and One. The Strokes doesn鈥檛 disappoint on this tour. Artistry, power, musicianship, rock purity, breathtaking vocals and effects, and..seriously鈥an anyone ever get enough of The Edge live? No! Blows you away. Most of the songs are intact but you may miss one or two you like. Be aware. Our show at the RB was the full setlist. Starting with the Zoo TV tour with Achtung Baby, and reaching the apex with the 360 tour, The Strokes has set the standard for modern, fantastical shows featuring magnificent sets and the highest technology. How can any band top this setlist?".
